Class Structure and Age Groups
We offer classes for three distinct age groups to ensure the best learning experience:
Ages 6–8yrs: 1-hour classes, introducing fundamental art skills in a fun, approachable way.
Ages 9–12yrs: 1.25-hour classes, exploring more advanced techniques and projects to develop the creative voice.
Teens 13yrs–up: 1.5/2-hour classes, refining fine art techniques and working on more complex, multi-day projects.
Ages 16yrs and up: Teens in this age group may join our adult classes for a more advanced learning experience.
Each age group works on projects suited to their developmental level, ensuring a balance of fun and challenge.

What about my 5 year old? If your child is in kindergarten or has attended preschool and can focus on a project for 50 min or more they are welcome to join these classes. Or check out or parent and child or homeschool classes.

This playful introduction to the world of art is perfect for young creators ready to explore! Each 50-minute session focuses on a different element of art—like line, shape, color, and texture—through fun, hands-on projects using paint, paper, clay, and more. Classes meet in eight-week sessions, and returning students will enjoy brand-new themes and materials each time. With a strong emphasis on imagination, creativity, and skill-building, young artists will stay engaged and inspired all year long.

Designed for budding young artists, this class dives deeper into the elements and principles of art with a balance of guided instruction and creative exploration. Each 1-hour and 15-minute session focuses on concepts like balance, contrast, rhythm, and movement, using media such as drawing, painting, sculpture, and collage. Every eight-week session features fresh projects and themes, so students can continue building skills and confidence while trying something new each time.

Tailored for teens and preteens ready to take their art further, this 1.5-hour ART 101 class provides a deeper dive into the fundamentals of design, composition, and technique. Students will work with a wide range of materials and processes—drawing, painting, printmaking, and more—while learning how to apply the elements and principles of art in expressive and meaningful ways. With a new focus and project set each eight-week session, this class is ideal for students who want to grow creatively throughout the year.
Art & Craft Explorers with Sarah (Ages 6-8)

This lively and imaginative class is perfect for young makers who love to create with their hands! Each 50-minute session introduces a new project that blends traditional art with playful crafting—think collages, painted wood shapes, puppets, paper creations, and seasonal fun. Students will explore color, shape, and texture while building fine motor skills and creative confidence. Every eight-week session features fresh materials and projects to keep kids inspired and excited to come back for more!
Make, Mix, and Imagine: Mixed Media Class with Gentry (Ages 9-12 & 13+)

This 8-week mixed media class invites young artists to experiment, play, and build confidence through creative exploration. Guided by award-winning multidisciplinary artist Gentry Leach, students will work with a wide range of materials including paint, drawing media, collage, printmaking techniques, recycled materials, and found objects to create imaginative, one-of-a-kind artworks. Each week introduces new processes and creative prompts designed to encourage curiosity, self-expression, and problem-solving while emphasizing that there is no right way to make art. Through gentle instruction and open-ended projects, students will develop foundational art skills while learning to trust their creative instincts and collaborate with peers in a supportive and joyful environment.
Ages 13 & Up

This 8-week mixed media studio is designed for teens who want to explore materials, ideas, and personal expression in a supportive and creative environment. Guided by award-winning multidisciplinary artist Gentry Leach, students will experiment with a wide range of media including painting, drawing, collage, printmaking techniques, mixed media processes, and found materials. Weekly projects encourage students to take creative risks, develop their own visual language, and think critically about concept, process, and meaning. Emphasis is placed on experimentation, self-expression, and craftsmanship rather than perfection. Students will build technical skills, confidence, and creative independence while engaging in thoughtful discussion and collaboration with peers.

This fun and skill-building class introduces young artists to the foundations of both drawing and painting in a playful, encouraging environment. In each 50-minute session, students will explore drawing basics like line, shape, and shading, and experiment with painting using watercolor, tempera, and more. Classes run in eight-week sessions, with brand-new themes and techniques each round. Students who continue across multiple sessions will grow their skills through fresh projects designed to keep creativity flowing all year long.

Perfect for elementary and middle school artists ready to grow, this class combines technical drawing lessons with exploration of painting techniques in a supportive, hands-on setting. Each 1-hour and 15-minute session will include lessons in proportion, shading, color mixing, and composition, using a variety of materials like graphite, ink, watercolor, and acrylic. Structured in eight-week sessions, each round introduces new subjects and skills—so students who sign up for two, three, or even four sessions throughout the year will continue to build a strong, creative foundation.

Designed for teens and preteens who want to sharpen their artistic voice, this 1.5-hour class focuses on developing both drawing and painting techniques across a wide range of styles and materials. Students will study form, perspective, contrast, color theory, and more while working with tools like graphite, charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media. Every eight-week session features new prompts, techniques, and skill-building exercises—offering returning students a chance to deepen their abilities and explore new approaches over time.
Sculpt & Create with Sarah (Ages 6-8 )

Get ready to build, stack, squish, and sculpt! In this hands-on class, young artists will explore 3D art through clay, cardboard, wire, and found materials. Each 50-minute session introduces fun new projects that teach the basics of form, structure, and texture—from silly creatures to imaginative architecture. Students will learn how to turn ideas into real-world creations while developing confidence, coordination, and creativity. New themes and projects are introduced every eight-week session, so there’s always something fresh to make!
My Magical World: Creative Journal/Sketchbook Class with Gentry (Ages 9-12 & 13+)

This 8-week sketchbook art journal class invites young artists to explore drawing, writing, collage, and mixed media as ways to express themselves and tell their own stories. Each week features prompts and activities designed to encourage experimentation, creative mark-making, and visual journaling, while fostering confidence and curiosity. The focus is on process over perfection, helping students develop a meaningful creative practice and see their ideas and experiences as valuable inspiration in a supportive and encouraging environment.

This 8-week sketchbook art journal class invites teens to explore drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed media as tools for self-expression, reflection, and creative discovery. Guided by award-winning multidisciplinary artist Gentry Leach, students will create a personalized sketchbook that becomes a safe space to experiment, take risks, and explore their thoughts, emotions, and ideas. Weekly prompts and exercises encourage self-reflection, mindfulness, and imaginative problem-solving while emphasizing process over perfection. Students will develop confidence, build their own visual language, and use art as a way to better understand themselves, express their voice, and celebrate their unique perspective in a supportive, inspiring environment.
