Call for Artists: Handmade Holiday Ornaments & Small Gifts
The holidays will be here before we know it, and we're looking for artists and makers to help us fill The Marshall Muse Gallery with those special little treasures that make gift-giving memorable.
We're seeking creative, handmade ornaments and small gifts that can be displayed on our holiday trees or tucked into festive baskets beneath them for customers to discover throughout the season.
What We're Looking For:
Handmade ornaments
Small, unique gifts
Original, artist-made creations
Items priced at $30 or less (the sweet spot is often $15–$25)
To create a beautiful, cohesive display, we'd love to have 10–15 similar pieces of each design or collection. Think of it as a mini series, enough to decorate a tree or create an eye-catching gift display.
As you're creating, ask yourself:
"Would I happily pick this up as a holiday gift or stocking stuffer?"
Our goal is to offer shoppers meaningful, handcrafted alternatives to mass-produced holiday décor and gifts while showcasing the incredible talent of our artist community.

REGISTER HERE for your 15-minute drop-off time slot. Take-in will take place at the gallery on October 26th from 11 am - 5 pm, and October 27th from 11 am - 5:30 pm.

“Figurative Focus”
The Art of the Human Form
Description:
This exhibition celebrates the figure: its gestures, expressions, and presence. Figurative Focus showcases drawing, painting, and other mediums that explore the human body, portraiture, and the ways artists interpret form, movement, and emotion. From traditional representations to contemporary explorations, the show invites viewers to connect with the art of the human figure.

“Squared Away”
Thinking Inside the Box – Literally
Description:
Squared Away invites artists to explore the square in every dimension. All artwork should be created on square canvases or in cube-shaped sculptures, encouraging creative exploration within a simple, defined form. From flat surfaces to three-dimensional works, this exhibition celebrates geometry, balance, and inventive approaches to shape, composition, and space. It’s a playful challenge: how much can you do inside the box?

“Open Visions”
Your Imagination, Your Rules
Description:
Open Visions is a celebration of creativity without boundaries. This exhibition invites artists to bring any subject, style, or medium to the gallery: painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, or experimental works. The only rule is to make it yours. With limitless possibilities, Open Visions is an inspiring showcase of individual voice, style, and perspective.

Please Note: All studios have been rented. Are you looking for a dedicated space to create, showcase, and sell your work? The Marshall Muse Gallery offers 11 private studio spaces for rent, providing a creative home for working artists in an inspiring and professional environment. When you rent a studio, you become one of our in-house artists, unlocking a variety of exclusive perks — including a reduced commission on gallery sales, discounts on framing services, priority access to gallery events, and more. As part of this working artist community, you’ll have the opportunity to engage with visitors, collectors, and fellow creatives, making valuable connections while sharing your passion. Studios are available for a monthly fee with a 12-month lease, ensuring stability for your creative practice while allowing you to expand your presence in the local art scene. Our Passageway Gallery offers the perfect opportunity for artists who want a consistent presence at The Marshall Muse Gallery without renting a private studio. This designated gallery space allows artists to rent wall space at a monthly rate with a six-month commitment, giving you the flexibility to showcase your work without the responsibilities of a full studio rental. This is a great way to establish yourself in the gallery, reach new audiences, and start selling your work while keeping costs manageable. Plus, artists in this program also receive a discounted commission rate on sales — so the more you sell, the more you earn!
Our Pottery & Gift Gallery space is dedicated to showcasing handcrafted pottery, small sculpture, artisan gifts, and creative wares from regional makers and artists. By participating, you’ll have the opportunity to share your work with gallery visitors while growing your customer base and strengthening Greensboro’s creative community. Artists and makers rent shelf space in the Pottery & Gift Room for a monthly fee of $50/$30, with the Gallery retaining a 30% commission on all sales. This allows artists to display work in a curated retail setting without the hassle of running their own shop. The space is designed to support ceramicists, sculptors, jewelers, and craft artisans who want a consistent, professional retail outlet with built-in traffic and marketing support.
