Trillium Studio, Community Gallery, July 2026
Trillium Studio is in a renovated out building behind Mavis Liggett’s house in Oak Ridge NC. The initial idea was conceived in 2017 and was completed in 2018. The studio was designed as a place she could paint and create although she did teach some art classes for kids in 2018. In 2019, Mavis started offering classes to adults. When 2020 rolled around, all classes were halted, but she proceeded to do creative Zoom workshops from the studio for Hirsch Wellness Network and Art Alliance of Greensboro. Once folks were vaccinated and ready to re-engage with the outside world, she restarted classes for adults. Mavis now has 3-4 artists and oil painters in 3 different classes a week. She also teaches occasional watercolor and drawing classes, as well as color theory and art exploration workshops. Mavis Liggett started Trillium Art Adventures in 2018. She coordinates trips to take artists to stellar locations to experience plein air painting. For her first adventure, she took 8 artists to paint in the gardens of various chateaux in the Loire Valley in France. The most recent adventure was May of 2024 when she took 6 artists to Ghost Ranch near Santa Fe, New Mexico, to paint in the arroyos where Georgia O’Keeffe painted.
